September 8, 2008 - Devotional: Speak For Yourself

"We have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from Your commands and laws. "
(Daniel 9:5)

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF

Nobody wants to be told they have done wrong, no one wants to hear from someone else that they are in their bad books, yet the listen to what Scripture says:

  • "I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn't have to destroy the land, but I found no one." (Ezekiel 22:30)
  • "No one is holy like the Lord." (1 Samuel 2:2)
  • "When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin)." (1 Kings 8:46)
  • "Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no one is living righteous." (Psalm 143:2)
  • "As it is written, 'There is none righteous, no , not one.'" (Romains 3:10)
  • "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romains 3:23)

I think the message is clear, we can give a blanket statement that all have done wrong, but each person must speak for themselves to God, face to face, one on one....we all must understand our sin, repent of our sin, seek His forgiveness and receive His mercy and grace on an individual basis.

Rejoice in the Lord Always!
